Ed Smith founded Ne-Mo's Bakery in Carlsbad, California in 1975, when he began selling a family recipe Carrot Cake, baked in his home, to local restaurants. Over time, the customer base grew to include local convenience stores and the product line was expanded to other individually portioned specialty bakery products. With the additional line items and increased sales volume, commercial distribution became necessary and that required a transition to frozen bakery products to insure the quality and freshness that was the basis for his success. In a time when commercial bakery products have succumbed to using fruit substitutes, pre-mixes, and powdered ingredients, Ne-Mo's has remained true to scratch baking. We use only the finest fresh ingredients throughout our entire product line. The original recipe for Carrot Cake remains unchanged. Raw sweet baby carrots, California walnuts, ranch fresh eggs, real cream cheese and select cinnamon are still being used today.
